 > What are InnovationDays?
 >
 > InnovationDays is the first international developer challenge
 > sponsored by the leading mobile network operator in Austria. The
 > sponsor will reward prices for the best open source software
 > application built making use of the operator´s network (now or in
 > future). The theme for the first challenge is „Open Communication by
 > Open Standards“. By that we are looking especially for ideas and
 > applications that exploit the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and/or
 > the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS).
 >
 > How are the InnovationDays organised?
 >
 > The challenge starts at the beginning of July, 2008 with a call for
 > entering ideas on this website. During a period of about 6 weeks, all
 > registered users on the website may promote or demote the submitted
 > ideas. On August 15, 2008, the then best ranked ideas will be judged
 > by a jury according to published criteria. In total, five ideas with a
 > team that can implement the proposed idea into a functional prototype
 > will be selected and invited to the prototyping sprint, taking place
 > from August 29 – September 1, 2008 at the monastery Und. There, each
 > team will develop/enhance/finalise its prototype and present it to the
 > audience and jury on the last day. A winning time will be selected and
 > awarded.
 >
 > What kind of applications are you looking for?
 >
 > We welcome all types of applications that are novel, benefit possible
 > users and leverage the operater´s network to deliver a better
 > communication experience. Since at the current stage, this network is
 > not fully exploited we are also welcoming ideas that suggest
 > functionalities that have to be yet implemented. The technological
 > focus for this first challenge is SIP and/or IMS, but nevertheless you
 > can submit ideas that are not dealing with SIP and/or IMS. You may
 > have an disadvantage, since one of the criteria for idea selection is
 > referring to these two technologies.
 >
 > What kind of prizes will you award?
 >
 > The grand price of the InnovationDays willl be awarded to the winning
 > team after the prototyping sprint. Every team may select two prices
 > from the following options:
 > 1) International conference package, including travel, accommodation
 > and conference fee.
 > 2) One week Adria sailing trip with a professional skipper, including
 > travel.
 > 3) A professional one week coaching (public relations, funding etc)
 > 4) One week powder snow skiing in Austria, including travel,
 > accommodation, skiing pass
 >
 > There is also the possibility to donate the value of the prices to a
 > charity organisation.

 > Once I have submitted my idea, will you take ownership of it without me?
 >
 > No. The Intellectual Property Rights will always stay with the idea
 > originator. We are interested in a discussion about new applications
 > that delight users and customers. Also when it comes to prototyping,
 > we don´t expect ownership, since it is required that the prototypes
 > are licensed under an open source software license.
 >
 > Does the application needs to be licensed under an Open Source
 > Software license?
 >
 > Yes, this is must. We believe in the power and creativity of the open
 > source software model and therefore are committed to support it.
